Building the USS Enterprise CVN-65
Sep1
For Christmas last year I received a truly massive 1/350 scale model of the German Battleship Bismarck from WWII. This kit was the largest model I have ever built, about 65cms or so in length. I got it for Christmas and have STILL not completely finished it – because of the accurising of parts.
I have well and truly got the bug for ships this large now and have my Christmas wish list set on the next challenge – the Tamiya USS Enterprise CVN-65. For those who aren’t aware (bit of geek factor here) this was the first nuclear powered naval vessel and the original namesake for Gene Rodenberry’s USS Enterprise from Star Trek.
This model truly is a monster at over 1m long and 30cms longer than the aforementioned Bismarck. So you can definately say it will take pride of place in anyone’s model collection – provided your wife will let you have shelf space to keep it.
More to follow over the coming months in terms of how things go convincing the family and Father Christmas to give this to me for Christmas, as well as the (hopefull!) build over the coming months and the accurising through photo-etched parts.
Here is a 5 min out of the box (this is what OOB actually stands for as I didn’t know!) of what’s to come!
Thoughts, comments and even donations welcome!
New Star Trek trailer
Nov0
Already spreading like wildfire through the web, here’s a copy of the new trailer for the film. Quality isn’t great because it was filmed on a mobile phone but you do get to see the Enterprise, fights and even the evil Romulans – very exciting. Hopefully the high quality version will be released to the Apple site over the weekend…

Interestingly, I’ve just found another blog who has similar interests in the new trailer - Star Trek Trailer
